Life Cycle 6 China: Cycling for Education Equity.
Yes we made it. University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC)’s provost Chris Rudd was accompanied by nine riders (including myself) and embraced 535km bicycle journey. Ended up with 560km at the end. What was the route? It was a tour of Zhejiang province: Ningbo- Shaoxing- Hangzhou- Zhuji- Tiantai- Sanmen-Ninghai- and back to the university.
Life Cycle is an annual campaign event in University of Nottingham UK, and this year is UNNC’s second year. History of Life Cycle events for the last six years, click here.

Six minutes Youtube video is embedded as below.
Here are screenshots of the Insta feed (updated after the event).
Good news about the exhibition. After months of searching, we finally found this amazing place, in downtown Ningbo. The first year’s drawing circle‘s materials will be re-produced and exhibited, sometime in September 2016 when people is back from their summer break (including myself). Stay tuned for the opening party, and if you are keen on helping me please do let me know.  Thank you Qingqing and Amy (the owner) for touring me and Ema around. The space is undergoing a face lift and will be opened in a few days time.
I hope the first year’s sketchers and the on-going second year’s can exchange some experience. It will also be open for public, more of a get together event (with the beer garden!).
Interested on joining the second year? Contact me through Wechat (id: miatedjosaputro) or click on the Contact page. Do you want to see how does the circle work? A short video of the first book (of two) of the first circle can be found here.
There you go, the second drawing circle has started. This time is started with Clotilde, a talented nine years old girl. There is still plenty of available slots for the rest of the year. If you would like to contribute, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Just a wee of fun, a short video in YouTube (embedded on this page) about a leather shop in Hefeng Creative District in Ningbo. Joan took  me there to see her teacher, and I have been meaning to learn about leather crafting for ages. The teacher let me made a very simple key chain. Fun morning indeed. Would love to learn more 🙂
An article written by me about a fun afternoon introducing angklung, a traditional bamboo shaker instrument. Commonly found in South East Asia including Indonesia, we (GKI and Djas Merah) hoped that our audience enjoyed the sound of angklung. As Indonesian, I had a go since I was a little kid in elementary school. Please get in touch if you want to learn more about angklung ([email protected]) and hope you have a pleasant read. Bye for now.
Poster is the last sketcher on the first local drawing circle. It’s a wrap! Thank you for all contributors, hope we all have fun. A small exhibition is coming up, so might want to stay tuned.
A wee of fun, I submitted three photos and joined the university level photography competition for the first round. Apparently I got shortlisted for the second round, with another 19 students. After submitting another three pictures, one of last three was selected to be voted. Unfortunately it’s a Wechat (the Chinese social media, or mainly used in China) vote. Anyway, I think it’s fun enough to see my photograph there 🙂 Jolly exciting.
If you want to vote in Wechat, scan this QR code. Please cast your vote before 11 May 2016 midnight, Ningbo time.
The rest of the pictures are what I submitted, am sharing them with you. As you might observe from the pictures, I am not the best casual photographer with the best technique. I am more of capturing the moment with whatever device I have in my hand. The theme was related to campus life. Taken using different cameras, some were taken from the quadcopter with Hero4Black dangled on the quadcopter, EM1, EOS30d or a GM1.
Hiya! Slightly off topic here but I just want to share the recipes I compiled. I shared it in my social media to encourage others to share their ultimate recipes too, and do not intend to bombard my website with pictures of home cooked food. I have to do it here due to the internet great firewall where I currently live (you know what I mean!!).
Quick meals for busy days 🙂 I know we can always browse, but sharing what’s from your own kitchen is slightly different isn’t? The 14 quick recipes, click the hyperlinks. The file size is 8.74MB, might take sometime so stay back and chill :) 20160503b_14 quick recipes_Mia Tedjosaputro
Alternatively, the reduced pdf version (not recommended to read the texts) is here, 1.38MB:Â 20160503b_14 quick recipes_Mia Tedjosaputro_lowres
Hopefully you will find it interesting and encourage you to do yours too. Let me know!
Hiya all, Poster Xiang is the last sketcher of the first round (and first year) of the Drawing Circle and we are approaching the end of round. We had 12 amazing sketchers and we are starting the second year straightaway, hence I am looking for 12 sketchers! Same drill, the same sketchbook will be in your possession for a month (which needs to be arranged which month) and you can draw as much as you want, anything really. At the end of month, choose one of your favourite, give a short blurb about what it represents; and it will be featured in Ningbo Guide for the second year.
Does the bell ring loud enough? 🙂 Part of Brew Drawing Circle, click here. And click here for the Ningbo Local Drawing Circle updates. Any questions please do not hesitate to be in contact via: UNNC university email system, Wechat if you have got me or drop a line to [email protected] . Looking forward to hear from you. Bye for now.
Mia.
