I hope you are all enjoying your summer, wherever you are. Here are a couple of recent 360s pictures from the hot and humid Ningbo and surrounding. 360s are edited using PT Gui. Embedded YouTube video is a 360 video taken last weekend while cycling through nearest mountains, not far from the university. Total cycling distance was about 60km, 450 vertical meters. Stay hydrated!
Started with lengthy and laborious processes in producing Linkographs manually (using Autocad and Photoshop), I decided to seek help to have a script to automated the process. Now we have a running script for the purpose of exploration. Benefits of the script: 1) quick try and fix 2) aid the process of second rating by a second rater  3) flexible output: either we want to show the data in macro level and micro level. The output’s perimeter can be adjusted according to your needs. For instance, selecting the appropriate size of vertices and limited colour of edges. I found differentiation is useful for different analysis purposes. And on a personal note, 4) it is very helpful to explore my data while constructing a new coding scheme for my specific study.
Edit: It is already online, click here .  For input template (.csv file) please get in touch.
Linkography is developed by Gabriela Goldschmidt, link to the book is here.
Our second sketcher, Yasmin Morgan has just completed her sketchbook turn. This young girl has been residing in Ningbo for almost three years and has a good eye for shapes and colours. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
We still have slots if you keen on contributing to this second year running’s drawing circle. Get in touch and look through what previous sketchers have done here. Stay tuned for the first year exhibition.
Yes we are still looking for your contribution, from December 2016 onwards. Wechat me (id: miatedjosaputro) or go to Contact page to be in touch. Image courtesy of Ningbo Guide June 2016 edition. Click here to download the online version.
Yes we made it. University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC)’s provost Chris Rudd was accompanied by nine riders (including myself) and embraced 535km bicycle journey. Ended up with 560km at the end. What was the route? It was a tour of Zhejiang province: Ningbo- Shaoxing- Hangzhou- Zhuji- Tiantai- Sanmen-Ninghai- and back to the university.
Life Cycle is an annual campaign event in University of Nottingham UK, and this year is UNNC’s second year. History of Life Cycle events for the last six years, click here.

Good news about the exhibition. After months of searching, we finally found this amazing place, in downtown Ningbo. The first year’s drawing circle‘s materials will be re-produced and exhibited, sometime in September 2016 when people is back from their summer break (including myself). Stay tuned for the opening party, and if you are keen on helping me please do let me know.  Thank you Qingqing and Amy (the owner) for touring me and Ema around. The space is undergoing a face lift and will be opened in a few days time.
I hope the first year’s sketchers and the on-going second year’s can exchange some experience. It will also be open for public, more of a get together event (with the beer garden!).
Interested on joining the second year? Contact me through Wechat (id: miatedjosaputro) or click on the Contact page. Do you want to see how does the circle work? A short video of the first book (of two) of the first circle can be found here.
There you go, the second drawing circle has started. This time is started with Clotilde, a talented nine years old girl. There is still plenty of available slots for the rest of the year. If you would like to contribute, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Just a wee of fun, a short video in YouTube (embedded on this page) about a leather shop in Hefeng Creative District in Ningbo. Joan took  me there to see her teacher, and I have been meaning to learn about leather crafting for ages. The teacher let me made a very simple key chain. Fun morning indeed. Would love to learn more 🙂
An article written by me about a fun afternoon introducing angklung, a traditional bamboo shaker instrument. Commonly found in South East Asia including Indonesia, we (GKI and Djas Merah) hoped that our audience enjoyed the sound of angklung. As Indonesian, I had a go since I was a little kid in elementary school. Please get in touch if you want to learn more about angklung ([email protected]) and hope you have a pleasant read. Bye for now.
Poster is the last sketcher on the first local drawing circle. It’s a wrap! Thank you for all contributors, hope we all have fun. A small exhibition is coming up, so might want to stay tuned.
