Experimental photography

Matt and I did a weekend project on capturing light, shadow and motions. Facilitated by BeePhoto who let us use the studio while they were away for a photo mission in Xi’an. We meant to do this for quite a long time, just had the opportunity this weekend. Shot using Olympus OMD EM1 and GoPro Hero4Black. I have to admit, it was not an easy exercise. And that was when the fun began. Failed party poppers, split seconds to catch popping balloons and wine glasses’ disaster. Well, lessons learnt!

Slow motion video of the popping balloon is now up in YouTube (embedded).

I rarely post pictures here in miatedjosaputro.com; most pictures are in my Flickr (click here) and Instagram (click here).

We are assembling the F450 quadcopter specially assigned for experimental works  too, some weekend projects. Will keep you posted.

UNNC Color Run: the open day

As part of the open day events, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) where we currently based at, organised a Color Run. Mimicking the official event, staff and students were involved. Matt and I, we both were invited by the people from CRRC and did the run together with some of the CRRC employees who are studying in UNNC, undertaking some business classes.

Aerial photography of UNNC

A couple of weekends ago we did some aerial photography shots using one of our quadcopters. Yes, we currently possess four of those amazing quads in different sizes. To be precise, three flying ones and one is currently out of action 🙂 We used this quad, FH410, which we also brought to Indonesia and flew him in Bali. I share some views we do not see everyday through our eyes. More of my casual photography, visit my Flickr. Click here.

First sketchbook video: Ningbo Local Drawing Circle

If you are curious about the last nine months’ scribbles, here is one for you. I compile a short video (in YouTube, click above embedded video- also make sure your VPN is on. link is here) about the content of the sketchbook (with the help of Matt on flipping pages). Name of the sketchers can be found on the left side of the page. We still have three absolutely amazing sketchers, so stay tuned for the second book.

Wendy: Ningbo Local Drawing Circle December 2015

Hiya, happy new year! Oh wow, it is the 2016. Where has the time gone? I do love this season, from one festival (Christmas-New Year) to the Spring Festival (another new year!). The long break is here, I am sure you have some fantabulous plans lining up or living it as we speak! *hum along to some holiday tunes*

Wendy Ren had the sketchbook in December. Here are some sneak peek of the scribbles. I do love the fluffy dog 🙂

I am looking for an exhibition space for the doddles in Ningbo at the end of one full year, any ideas please give me a shout. Had a thought about the gallery opposite church in Tianyi OR UNNC library. Stay warm Ningbo peeps, will be sub zero degree for the next few days!

The sleek DH410 foldable quadcopter

The latest iteration my F450, it became the foldable carbon fibre DH410 frame which fits into a normal rucksack. The longish shape makes it easier to navigate around, in comparison with the F450 with its pure X shape, very light too. The general idea is to tremendously increase its portability. Matt is working on it and I cannot wait to test whether with the gimbal, we will get jello free aerial footage or otherwise. And it might be set for the spring break festival trip in a couple of weeks time, who knows.

Previous F450 set-up can be found here.

And we will have the DJI F450 frame to do some experimental work, like paintings etc! Woot woot!
